Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal Programme

The induction here on the restoration and renewal programme runs to two full days due, in part at least, to the many complexities faced by undertaking a significant programme of works in an iconic heritage building with all of the associated historical and political significance this entails.

The Health and Safety section of the induction runs to 2 hours and when putting together the agenda we looked at ways of keeping the attendees interested and engaged. As we had previous experience of working with Dramanon, and seeing first-hand the impact that their immersive theatre based presentation style can bring, we embarked on a series of discussions with them to outline our requirements. This collaborative approach helped ensure that our core message was retained but also gave Dramanon the opportunity, and freedom, to utilise their skills in bringing that message to life.

The Safety section has grown from its humble beginnings and is now used to wrap up the final day of the induction being viewed by attendees as the highlight of the session. Dramanon bring with them not only their thespian skills but also an excellent insight into how the construction industry works and their mixture of humour and pathos serves as a very powerful communication tool.

The success of the induction session has led us to utilise Dramanon for additional sessions covering topics such as Bullying and Harassment, Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest and we are currently planning some ‘Mock Trial’ sessions for roll out in the coming months.

Dramanon are now viewed as a key partner of the restoration and renewal programme and are a fundamental part of our drive to ensure we foster a safety culture we can all be proud of.
