This was the fourth time we had worked for our client and the second in Dubai, this time using six professional cameras and their kit.

The team building exercise was a great success and instrumental in combining creativity with key messages around the company, its brand and its international standing.

The films were all supported and edited by the Dramanon team and shown at an awards dinner on the last night of the three-day conference.

Dramanon are looking forward to the next time!

Running a training programme 3 times a day always has its challenges butt his has now become a regular feature in Dramanon’s work.

Groups of 20+ at a time arrive for a 90 minute training session around some core subject areas.

Eon were the first to pilot a large series of these workshops whose aim was to lessen the accident frequency rate for the company of reverse polarities (neutral wire becomes live for the uninitiated!)

Almost as soon as we had completed the training we were successfully running the same courses to Siemens, EDF and Scottish Power.

Not only did we help to change the AFR’s within the companies we werealso successful in lowering the industry AFR.

The work was covered over a two day period and the actor involved in the film was used in the construction of the fencing to make the remainder of the story realistic!

We took our message from Brazil to the Philippines. We visited over 30 countries and gained a wealth of experience in working with different cultures.

It was important that our personnel were representative of the cultural diversity we were working with and this helped provide the punch to the training we delivered.

The story inspired from a best-seller business book entitled, ‘Who MovedMy Cheese’ chartered three different characters journeys through change inthe workplace.

The concept was extremely well received and enabled the subject to come to life and create a huge amount of debate and discussion with the facilitator and one another.

The next day saw a much more involved group tackle the subjects with passion.

£60k fire play ‘worth every penny’

A play designed to help firefighters accept modernisation in the fire service has been hailed a success by fire bosses.

The dramatised role-play session, which got a cold reception from fire fighters when it was put on at Cambridge’s Parkside fire station in July, has been used as part of a training initiative to keep staff up to date on developments in the service.

The session, put on by professional training group Dramanon, featured conversations between two firefighter characters about changes including greater emphasis on fire safety and community work.

Now the dramatisation, which cost around £60,000 to develop and show to 750 employees at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue, has been hailed as anexample of good innovation by a government watchdog.

And fire bosses in the county say the money will be recouped as other fire authorities in pay to use the training package.

Maurice Moore, head of personal and organisational development, said: “At times when money is tight, anything that is self-financing is a real bonus for council taxpayers, and now other counties want to jump aboard and Dramanon will pay us a percentage, which should cover all our costs.”

He also said the 20-minute play had helped change attitudes within theservice.

Dramanon were commissioned to devise and write a play at the beginning of the works on the Olympic site in Stratford.

The idea was to create a story aimed at the traveller community resident on the site.

The play was focused on children between 8 – 14 years old and the simple message was about keeping everyone safe and out of harms way.

The play lasted around 30 minutes and was followed by a workshop run by the Dramanon team.

The results saw a poster designed by the children to help support the project and to leave the powerful message of saying No to going onto site.

Communicating Values

We were asked to make all management and staff aware of the new organisation values.

They wanted a flexible way of communicating values in an exciting way to both large and small groups within the organisation.

The objectives were:

To create awareness of the values and to try to embed them within the organisational culture

To help staff at all levels recognise best practices of customer& client care

To identify how personnel can live the values.

We provided the opportunity to get through all the values effectively and quickly using theatre style performances.

Actors played the parts of management, their team and clients. It helped to show clearly how preferred behaviour and attitude can win the day when demonstrating the right values.

The benefits were to be able to interact with the characters through a question and answer process and then give feed back.

This enabled a huge array of questions to be answered and brought to the fore many of the issues that needed to be discussed.

The sessions were highly realistic and became as near to real life scenarios as possible.

People who attended the training left with a visual understanding of the values, their purpose and a deeper understanding of the benefits to themselves and the organisation.

In truth an awful lot of fun was had as well, making a potentially dry subject come to life!
